Women Empowerment...
As an initiative to improve the status of women in slum communities of North District, Basic Foundation has partnered with the Mission Convergence/ Samajik Suvidha Sangam, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and has established a Gender Resource Center in slum colony at Indira Vikas ColonyThe center, envisaged as an instrument to bring social, economic and legal empowerment of women, acts as a one stop shop that provides legal counseling and advise, nutrition and health, education, clinical treatment for common
gynecological and general ailments, remedial education, non formal education, adult literacy classes for women and information and guidance for accessing the benefits of various schemes/facilities of govt. The GRC also aims to provide social empowerment and economic initiatives like skill training building, SHG formation, micro enterprise and entrepreneurship development.
Health Awareness...
Basic Foundation since its very inception in 2009 had been concerned with health status and wellness situation of vulnerable communities specifically women and children. This concerned took Basic Foundation to work with the communities in preventing HIV/AIDS and STDs/STIs and spreading the awareness.
Basic Foundation has been running a T.I project in the area of Seelampur, Shadhara, Gandhi Nagar & Jheel, East Delhi with collaboration with DSACS. T.I project which stands for targeted intervention project has been working in different areas of East Delhi for MSM/TG to prevent HIV infection amongst them. The area is mixed Population of industrial and residential colonies. Since it is situated at the border and very busy in transition the prevalence of HIV infection is very high due to merger of bridge population and TGs. Now T.I. project is providing services to 1000 HRGs with the help of Peer educators who are belong to the HRGs category.
Livelihood...
Along with The Times of India, BASIC FOUNDATION is facilitating Teach India Spoken English courses for youth ages 18-32. In a cycle of four months sixty learners are instructed by British Council trained and experienced teacher. The classes offer participants a competitive advantage in the workforce by teaching them to speak English fluently, specifically for conversational and business dialogues. Ultimately, participants receive better placement in their professions. This programme is a catalyst towards development in an area where poverty prevents young people from opportunities to advance toward their career goals.
Environmental Awareness...
In partnership of Ministry of Environment and Forests, Basic Foundation is proud to have been associated with a spectacular project of “National Environment Awareness Campaign”.
